The Property Team is responsible for oversight, maintenance, repair and improvement to the building and grounds of First United Church, within the limits of budget, current applicable codes and current common practices, with attention to current and future congregational needs.
The committee has access to a set portion of the accumulated building fund to use for smaller projects and maintenance without Board approval. Other limiting factors include the following:
- changes to the sanctuary will be undertaken only after consultation with the Worship Ministry Team;
- changes in the kitchen, hall and upstairs lounge will be undertaken only after consultation with those responsible for these areas;
- changes to the church school rooms will be undertaken after consultation with the Christian Formation Ministry Team;
- The committee will stay within the current approved budget. In the event of emergencies that affect the safety or usefulness of the facility, the committee will act efficiently to meet the emergency and notify the board and/or congregation as soon as possible regarding any long term consequences, including budget consequences.
