The term Christian Formation refers to the multi-faceted process of becoming a person committed to and living in the Spirit through following Jesus Christ. It’s about more than education which addresses mainly the mind. It’s also about practices that lead us to an experience of the sacred. It involves the whole person. When people speak of having a formative experience they are referring to an experience that has changed them, that has helped to give them the identity they now have. This is the sense in which we use the word formation.
A variety of groups meet to encourage and support participants to grow in their spiritual lives. These groups currently include the following:
- Study Groups
- Centering Prayer
- Lenten Series of speakers, films or other experiences
- Affirm ministry (inclusiveness of GLBTT persons)
We’re always looking for new initiatives. Please talk to Rev. Jenny if you have a new idea! Contact her at the office at 250-832-3860 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
